The growing need for an automated storage of research products is an increasing concern for research institutions. The complex and ever changing environment where knowledge should reside makes it more compelling to treat information as a strategic resource requiring proper database management.

In light of this situation, the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) conducted a technical learning session (TLS) for its staff on Project Tracking and Monitoring Information System (PTMIS) last November 27 at the Management Information Resource Center (MIRC).

. Czarina May Cortez, ILS IT specialist, introduced the system and discussed the mult-step processes involved in managing the system. During the session, the PTMIS manual was distributed to guide the staff in tracking, monitoring and updating their research products.

The System has three (3) user levels: System Administrators, Content Managers, and Guest Users. Each level has corresponding access ranging from uploading files to simple view of research products stored in the system.
