Manila, Philippines – Employees from Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) participated in the Independence Day Parade dubbed as “Parada ng Kalayaan” last June 12, in celebration of the 119th Philippine Independence Day at the Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park, Manila.

The Independence Day Parade was led by Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, together with senior officials from the military, executive and legislative branches of the government.

The program commenced with an ecumenical prayer led by religious leaders representing Catholic, Muslim, Iglesia Ni Cristo and Christian faiths. It was followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem led by the Philippine Army Marching Band. A short musical presentation depicting events leading to the declaration of Philippine Independence in 1898 was showcased to the public, which was followed by the parade proper with floats representing the various departments and agencies of the local and national government.

The Institute’s participation was also in support of the Department’s “Kalayaan Job Fair 2017” at the Senior Citizen’s Garden of the Rizal Park, involving 50 local and 25 overseas employers. The event was spearheaded by DOLE-NCR in coordination with the Bureau of Local Employment (BLE), and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
