The Institute for Labor Studies’ ongoing 2019 researches on the construction industry were mentioned by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) OIC for Project Development Division Charlyn B. Justimbaste in her presentation titled “Preparing TVET for the 4th Industrial Revolution Challenge” at the 9th National Education Forum held in Hotel Jen in Pasay City last August 29.

The researches titled “Differentiation of Pay Scales Across Levels" and "Skills Needs Anticipation (SNA): Workplace Skills and Satisfaction (WSS) Baseline Survey of Select Employers in the Construction Industry,” are being undertaken through a partnership with TESDA and the International Labour Organization (ILO) and aim to help multistakeholders, specially TESDA, in identifying opportunities and training needs as the sector transitions to industry 4.0.

The study on skills needs anticipation aims to determine the employers’ desired skills and competencies of its workforce as well as their level of satisfaction on the competencies and performance of TVET graduates in the construction industry.

The results of the said studies will be presented along with the other researches of the Institute in November 2019 during the 8th DOLE Research Conference.
