Manila – The Institute of Labor Studies celebrated its 32nd founding anniversary with the launch of the ILS E-Newsletter on July 25 at its new home at the 6th floor of First BF Condominium at Solana St., Intramuros, Manila.
The ILS E-Newsletter makes full use of the internet platform to reach its clients and contains good news, activities, infographics on its latest policy researches, information on the latest publications, and other advocacy materials. It also features a client feedback section, where ILS stakeholders and the public can make suggestions on current and future policy studies.
Executive Order 251, issued on July 25, 1987, gave birth to the Institute for Labor Studies. This provided the Institute flexibility in responding to the Department's need for comprehensive and innovative researches in support of policy decision making.
The ILS Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) committee also awarded certificates of recognitions to employees for their individual and group contributions toward the achievement of the Institute’s goals for the first semester.
Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba reiterated the value of the willingness to “learn, unlearn, and relearn” to best adapt to Future of Work scenarios. and to contribute to more years of excellent service for the ILS.
For the past 30 years, the ILS has produced more than 500 researches and provided policy recommendations for more than 1,000 legislative bills, which were instrumental in providing guidance and in the crafting more than 300 laws, administrative and department orders. To this day, the Institute continues its legacy of being the premiere research institute responsive to the needs of the Filipino workforce by providing policy recommendations through research and evidence-based decision making.
