March 8, 2018, marked the formal kick-off of Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) activities for 2018 Women’s month celebration. This event, titled “Breaking the Glass Ceilings” was conducted at the iLearn Conference Room, 5th Floor DOLE Building, Intramuros, Manila.

The event aims to introduce new and innovative ideas to raise awareness on women’s issue, and engage ILS staff to actively participate in promoting women empowerment..

The event was participated in by employees of the Institute which started with a film showing and a sharing afterward by the three women leaders of the Institute. Acting Deputy Executive Director Brenalyn Peji, shared her experiences anchored on the questions What are the barriers that you faced in climbing up the ladder? How were you able to overcome them? Acting Chief Maria Isabel Artajo emphasized that women leaders can contribute to social change of the country by paving policies and programs that would empower women to allow them fair chance in development.”

 “As a woman in public service and an advocate of women’s protection and welfare, always do your job with passion and dedication for serving our workers, prove your worth in the process, and the promotion will come along your way,” were the rallying message of Acting Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba.
