The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) is gearing up for its upcoming International Organization for Standardization (ISO) quality audit which is scheduled on November 14.

ILS received its ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems (QMS) certification last March 18, 2016 from Anglo Japanese American (AJA) Registrars Philippines, Inc., an independent third party registrar (certification body) operating from a global network of offices offering third party registration and training services at a local level.

A quality audit, as provided in the ISO 9001 QMS guidelines, is a “systematic, independent and documented process for obtaining audit evidence and evaluating it objectively to determine the extent to which the audit criteria, which consists of sets of policies, procedures or requirements, are fulfilled. The same is required for ILS to retain its ISO Certification.

The ILS-ISO 9001 quality team, headed by current ILS OIC-Deputy Executive Director Ms. Brenalyn A. Peji, is currently preparing for the said audit by referencing the minutes of the Quality Audit Meeting, which is being finalized by former ILS quality lead, Atty. Stephanie B. Tabladillo – Yamson.

From the discussion of the minutes, an internal audit will be conducted by ILS internal quality audit lead Mr. Bernard Mangulabnan. The findings of the said audit will be discussed with the concerned ISO quality division leads. Recommendations that will be procured from the meetings will form part of the core for the Institute’s ISO presentation.
