Manila – Institute for Labor Studies OIC-Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba was one of the resource speakers during the 12th Executive Labor Updates session held last October 5 at the ECOP Boardroom, Employees Compensation Commission Bldg. in Makati City.
The event sponsored by the Employers Confederation of the Philippines focused on the topic, “Compressed Work Week and Other Alternative Working Arrangements: Productive or Disruptive?”
Director Satumba discussed the “Dimensions of Alternative Work Arrangements,” highlighting that such work arrangements are more variable in terms of time and place, and reflect the changes in the world of work brought by economic and social changes such as the increased role of women in the labor force, and the enabling laws that legalize/institutionalize them. She also discussed the principles and concepts of Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA), its forms, trends both in the International and Philippine Setting, and impact.
OIC-ED Satumba was with Rep. Mark O. Go, who gave the keynote address for Salient Features of House Bill no. 5068 in relation to the Compressed Workweek Scheme, Ms. Melisa R. Serrano, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the University of the Philippines – School of Labor and Industrial Relations who conducted a Presentation of a Research Report on the Rise of Non-Standard Employment in East Asia, and Atty. Benjo Santos M. Benavidez, Director of the DOLE Bureau of Labor Relations, who discussed the Existing policies on Flexible/Alternative Work Arrangements.
