QUEZON CITY – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) has once again received an “Unmodified Opinion” from the Commission on Audit (COA) for its 2024 Annual Audit Report, marking a 13-year streak of such recognition since 2011.
In a communication dated 30 April 2025, COA Director Marilyn B. Miran informed the Institute that “the audit provides a reasonable basis for rendering an unmodified opinion on the fairness of the presentation of the financial statements.”
The COA conducted the audit in accordance with the International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAIs) to: (a) ascertain the level of assurance that may be placed on management’s assertions on the financial statements; (b) determine the propriety of transactions as well as the extent of compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations; and (c) determine the extent of the implementation of prior year’s audit recommendations.
Adding to its achievements, ILS was also recognized in 2024 – for the fourth time - by the Association of Government Accountants of the Philippines (AGAP) as one of the country’s “Outstanding Accounting Offices.” The distinction was given in recognition of the “quality, timeliness, and accuracy” of ILS financial reports for the calendar year 2023. The award was given during AGAP’s annual convention held last October, at the IEC Convention Center in Cebu City.
