The Institute for Labor Studies conducted the “Training on Research Ethics: Sensitivity in the Conduct of Policy Research Involving Human Subjects” last July 07, 2017 at the iLearn Conference Room, DOLE Building in Intramuros, Manila.

The training reiterated the importance of research ethics and protocol, especially in conducting researches that entail participatory approach.

"This is beyond law. This is about building relationships. It is about trust, respect for the person, and about inherent human dignity," explained Prof. Nancy Parreño of the University of the Philippines-College of Social Work and Community Development.

The other topics covered the “National Policies and Guidelines for Human Protection in Research;” “Concepts and Components of Research Ethics Protocol;” and “Research sensitivity to: Distressed and repatriated OFWs, Child laborers, Parents of child laborers, Indigenous People, Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens.

Participants include members of DOLE Inter-Agency Committee on Research and Statistical Matters (IAC-RSM), and representatives from DOLE Bureaus and attached agencies.
