QUEZON CITY — The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) has completed data gathering for eight research studies that aim to provide evidence-based labor and employment issues, bringing the Department of Labor and Employment a step closer to strengthening policies and programs for Filipinos workers and enterprises.

The studies cover priority areas such as labor representation, labor inspection, regional trade integration, just transition in coal mining communities, labor market outcomes of senior high school graduates, support for microenterprises and ageing workforce, and pathways linking TUPAD beneficiaries to active labor market programs.

With fieldwork completed, ILS researchers are now refining and validating their findings through peer review with experts and practitioners. The review process is designed to strengthen the quality, relevance, and policy value of the research prior to its presentation at the 15th DOLE Research Conference on October 27-28, 2026.

"These studies are more than research outputs. They provide evidence that can help guide the development of responsive labor policies and programs for Filipino workers and enterprises," said Executive Director III Jeanette T. Damo.

The DOLE Research Conference is held annually to disseminate labor and employment research and foster dialogue among government, workers, employers, academe, and development partners.

Through these studies, ILS continues to support the Department's commitment to evidence-informed policymaking and the development of programs that promote decent work, worker protection, and inclusive economic growth.
