The Institute for Labor Studies participated in the training for Speakers Bureau and Writers Bureau on Child Labor campaign as a member of the National Child Labor Committee (NCLC), the country’s anti-child labor network composed of representatives from various government agencies, civil society organizations, and workers’ organizations on November 19-21, 2018 at St. Giles Hotel in Makati City.

Ms. Franchesa Rose Castillo of the ILS Workers Welfare Research Division attended the training, which aims to equip the participants with knowledge and skills on how to streamline the NCLC’s “Isang Milyong Batang Malaya Campaign Against Child Labor,” to increase the support and engagement of all sectors.

Resource persons include Mr. Earl Victor Rosero, a veteran journalist, who trained the NCLC writers on media planning and writing effective content for different types of media.

The Center for People’s Media, on the other hand, taught the NCLC participants about effective communication and media interviews.

Under the Philippine Development Plan for 2017-2022, the country committed to reduce 30% (or 630,000) of the 2.1 million child labor cases and accomplish a total of one (1) million children removed from child labor by 2025.
