The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), led by Secretary Silvestre Bello III, met with Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) Scientific Advisor Dr. Dean Yang and team to discuss possible collaborative researches aimed at finding ways to enhance positive impact of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) earnings on the local economy.

The meeting was held at the OSEC Conference Room last January 16 where the Secretary was joined by representatives from Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), National Reintegration Center For OFWs (NRCO), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), International Labor Affairs Bureau (ILAB), and the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS).

The Department has previously engaged with IPA for an impact study on its “Kabuhayan Para sa Magulang ng Batang Manggagawa” or KASAMA, a DOLE Program, which aims to provide and promote sustainable livelihood as a tool to combat child labor. ILS organized the presentation of the results of the said impact study in 2019.
