Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) hosted the June 27 Department of Labor and Employment’s Flag raising ceremony held at the Local Governance Learning Center (LGLC).

The ceremony was attended by key officials from the department headed by Assistant Secretary Ma. Gloria Tango, and Assistant Secretary Mariano Alquiza.
In her welcome message, OIC-Executive Director Riguer emphasized that the Institute is celebrating its 30th year, and directed the audience to a video production showing the updated ILS mission/vision statements, quality policy, including its new core values summed up as I–EPIC, which stands for Integrity, Excellence, Public Service, Innovation, and Compassion.

Asec. Tango, for her part, acknowledged the ILS’ contribution (which was formerly named Institute of Labor and Manpower Studies) in the growth of the Department, mentioning that four DOLE Secretaries, namely Ruben Torres, Patricia Sto. Tomas, Arturo Brion, and Nieves Confesor came from the Institute.

“Ibig sabihin maganda ang training sa former ILMS, now ILS. Sila kase ang research arm and think tank for the Department. They are not only focused on one program but on all programs of the DOLE and also researches on what can be improved by the Department. Maraming na sponsor nating mga batas at mga pending pa sa congress na nangyari dahil sa ang nag provide ng mga information ay ILS at maraming mga programang din natin ang na conceptualize through the ILS at existing program na natulungan ma improve dahil din sa ILS. Maraming ginagawa ang ILS para sa atin at ang bottomline is customer satisfaction. Lahat ng ginagawa natin ay para sa taong ating pinagsisilbihan.”
