Labor Market Trends 2016 – 2022

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III’s Eight-Point Labor and Employment Agenda were anchored on this premise to address persistent labor market challenges, including unemployment and underemployment. Further, the fundamental principles and rights at work was highlighted in ensuring better employment facilitation and job generation strategies. Secretary Bello added that the Eight-Point agenda would ensure human resource development toward a dynamic labor market (Department of Labor and Employment [DOLE], 2016).

The objectives of the study are as follows:

  • Provide an analysis on the labor market indicators from 2016 to 2022 to gauge the performance of the labor market under the Duterte administration
  • Compare labor market indicators from 2002 to 2022
  • Analyze the current challenges in the labor market
  • Provide recommendations and inputs to the crafting of the labor and employment agenda under the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
